CASE STUDY · SOUTH AFRICA
Power and heat from poultry processing wastewater.
An anaerobic treatment plant in the Western Cape, engineered, built and operated by our team at Green Create.
The challenge
Poultry processing wastewater is high in fats, protein and nitrogen, and a heavy load on municipal treatment works. The site needed a reliable way to treat it on site while recovering its energy.
Our solution
An anaerobic treatment plant with fat removal, digestion and biogas-fired combined heat and power, delivering electricity and hot water back to the processing site.
The result
In operation since 2017, the plant produces power and heat for its host, returns clean water and reduces the load on municipal wastewater infrastructure.
